ball joints

My ball joints both upper and lower have way to much play. I will be picking up some asap as I plan on taking out my truck for the first time this weekend. I did some research and I found some negative's on the stock toyota parts as well as pics of the truck sitting on top of the folded under tire.
I tryed to find some heavy duty one's with grease fitting. I didnt really come up with much NAPA seems to have some beefy looking ones but no indication if that is so. Some time's its just a generic picture. I do plan on getting the 2" lift from toytec with ball joint spacers.

I'm sure the Napa ones will be fine. I've used Moog brand from RockAuto Parts Catalog as well without any issues.

I actually think that the oem Toyotas are the best. I bought a set of Moog ball joints from Rock auto and they only lasted about 2 years.

Most ball joints die from lack of grease. Grease them regularly, and they should last a while.

I'd stick with the Japan made units. They seem to be pretty robust, just getting harder to find. I replaced both the upper/lower joints when doing a suspension rebuild(torsion bar 25mm, urethane bushings, etc..) on our truck 5-6 years ago, and they are still tight.
Our joints came from autohausaz.com, but much of the original Japan made stuff(Asian, Tiej,Sumitomo, etc.) has dried up, especially for the older trucks. Best of luck.

That is why Im tried to find ones that i can re-grease as needed.

Why not get the strong ones and just drill/tap a small hole on the backside for your own grease zerk? Just remember to not over fill them or you might do more harm than good.

moogs are junk since they are made in china now.

Use the Toyota ones. By far the best. One of those things you dont skimp on......like usung Toyota head gasket...or thermostat...or brake pads....some stuff Toyota got right.

Done a ton of balljoint research lately. All happy balljoint stories begin at the dealership parts counter. Toyota Parts - Wholesale Toyota Parts direct from Village Toyota Parts | Village Toyota Parts are reasonable.

I'm a fan of Moog. I've run Moog ball joints and tie rod ends on every truck I've owned for the past 10 years. None of them have ever worn out or broken.

The Moog tie rod ends I put on the '85 last year were stamped Sankei/555, just like the Landcruiser ends I installed when I went to crossover. Sankei are not MIC parts.
