Bandit Runner Build 2.0

I finished the preliminary design for the front bumper. Here are a few CAD images:

Then I built a prototype from 3/16" thick foam board and a lot of hot melt glue.

Building the prototype was worth while, as I found a few things I want to change in the design. Mostly tweak some angles so the bumper better lines up with what's left of the stock bumper. Pretty happy with the overall look of the bumper though. I'll update the design in CAD, and start building the real thing soon.

Cool build!

I liked your 3rd gen. I’m copied your roof rack for my 3rd gen. I had to sell it a few yrs back. But I’m back with a ‘22 ORP in Barcelona. I dig the mods. How are you liking the light setup?

Thanks. For the little bit I've played around with the lights, I like them so far. Will be doing some camping soon and hope to really put them to use and see how they do.

A little more progress on the front bumper:

Center section is basically done, just need to clean up the side edges yet. Then move on to the side wings.

Well I finally finished all the fabrication on the front bumper. It took way longer than I expected, but I think it turned out really nice.

I also made a small skid plate that bridges the gap between the bumper and the OEM skidplate:

I just need to clean up a few things, and then get it off to the powder coater. Can't wait to finally get this thing installed.

Picked up the bumper and skidplate from powdercoating yesterday. Satin black looks pretty good. Took a few quick pics.

Today I installed the winch inside it:

Then finally got the bumper installed:

I'll get some better pics soon.

This is an extremely impressive build, both from the custom aspect and the clean, functional integration.

Well done! [emoji106]

Dude!!!
I saw pictures of your bumper on the what did you do today thread and decided to look at your build thread, just thought to myself “anyone that can build a bumper like that must have some cool stuff on their rig”
But nothing prepared me for what I saw on you build thread hahaha.
Holy crap man!!!! What is your day job? And why aren’t you mass producing these parts? Hahaha so much talent!!! Amazing build!!!! Can’t wait to see what comes next!!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. For my day job, I design household appliances. Also, I had a lot of practice designing and building parts for my old 3rd gen.

Very nice man. Well done. I bet that feels great to be completed. I don't have a 5th gen, but do you plan on selling the weld it together plans like you did for your 3rd gen?

Thank you. Yes, it feels great to have it finally be done. Took about 8 months to design and build.

I'm not sure yet if I'm going to sell this design. Doesn't seem to be many DIY'ers on the sites anymore.
