Baseball Card Values

I found a box of a bunch of baseball cards (and some other cards and *gasp* pogs) from the 70s/80s/90s. I remember back in the day we could spend a few bucks on a booklet to get approx values. What's the best way to get them these days? It's been a while and it would be nice to get rid of this stuff before we move.

I think Beckett still makes a mag, but the prices of vintage cards (especially in that era) has taken a HUGE dive since the 80's/90's. Plus, to get the most value out of them, you need to get them graded, which is another headache in itself. Maybe pick out the best of the best and see if there's anything good?

My brother and I used to be huge card collectors back when we were kids. We still have all of them at our parents place. Thought they would be worth a lot one day! Should have been collecting comic books.

Yeah agreed... we had comic books but actually read and shared them. Stupid kids. lol

Maybe I should just consolidate and save this project for another day.

Baseball Cards


I have a shoebox full of old cards - from the late 1970s - but I have no clue as to what they are worth. It's like a lot of other junk that we hang onto forever because we somehow think it might be "worth something" in the future.

Well, the future is here. Too bad I never fixed up and kept my old 1964 Cadillac that I had way back in high school. Sheesh!

Best thing to do is buy yourself a Beckett mag or see if it is available online. Grading a card costs a few bucks and is the only way to get max value from the card. The problem is that by the time you get them graded, they are worth about what you have in them, so it's really not worth it. Better to sort out the most expensive cards, have those graded if they could be worth over 200 each, then have them mounted properly and just hang onto them.

I look back and realized I needed to have picked different players to have as my favorites. For example, my favorite sports player was Tom Seaver, thus I have more of his cards than anyone else's. My brother's? Michael Jordan and he's got a TON of his stuff. Cards, shoes, clothes posters etc etc. I think his stuff might be worth more than mine. :cry2:
