HuntRunner - I know what you mean, I spent a lot of time going back and forth before I bought it on how I thought it would look! Then, even after I put it on with the extension and all, I would take it off and take the extension out just to see how that looked and it looked far too stubby that way ... so, all in all, after trying things out a little, I'd say it looks best with the MegaWarrior and the extension unless you want a perfect square.
You have a couple options on the mounting -- you can either mount it directly on the factory rack (no adapters, nothing extra) or you can get towers and/or other crossbars. If you plan on carrying more than the factory rack is safe to bear, then you'll need to get the tower crossbars because they have a higher load rating. If you aren't planning on hauling too heavy a load (and forgive me, I don't remember off the top of my head what the load rating for the factory rack is ... but I think it's around 120lbs ... and then don't forget to account for the weight of the basket itself which isn't too much), then you can stick to the factory bars.
Mine is directly on the factory rack for the time being, and that seems absolutely sufficient for me. It just depends on what you plan on using it for and what you plan on carrying up there.
As for wind noise ... I don't know about you but I had awful wind noise right from the lot! Far as I can tell, the rack doesn't increase it much at all ... the fairing that comes with the rack helps a great deal as well.
Hope that helps
