Battery and Parking Break Warning Light Comming On

So just last week my Battery Charge and Parking Break Warning Lights started comming on simultaniously while driving. Was forced to drive it for a couple of days cause its my DD and both my fog lights and one of my head lights blew out. I took it to an Auto Zone and had them test the battery and alternator and they tested fine.

Of possible importance... My fog lights are wired directly to the battery with an in-line fuse. My head lights are wired factory standard. My battery has died on me on occasion over the past few months. My volt meter on the dash reads anywhere from 12-18 volts while driving. My battery is almost two years old and still underwarranty. My alternator is a certified toyota remanufactured when the engine was rebuilt 60k miles ago.

Anythoughts? Battery... Alternator... Wiring.... ?

i had that happen to me a couple years ago. same thing everything tested fine. i replaced my alternator and it fixed it. i replaced the battery soon after

Does yours have the vlotage regulator on the fenderwheel? If so that could be one issue where if its reading around 18 volts. Mine is busted on my 2wd 84 pick up and it reads around 10v-12v or so intil it gets up over 2k rpms and then reads 18v. Most likely its the alternator thou. Get the truck running and use a volt meter and see what the volts are while its running. Should be somewhere around 14.4-14.6.

Change the alternator brushes, they sell a kit. Pretty cheap too (about $14), I think most major auto stores carry them. Made mine go away. Part number: 27370-35060

First, the CHARGE and BRAKE lights on together means an alternator problem, and usually is the brushes.

The voltage should not be jumping around, but the dash gauge is not very accurate either.

Is the regulator external or inside the alternator?

I believe the Volt Reg is on the passenger side fender well near the battery... but Im also not really sure what Im lookin at. Ive got a stock '87 t4r sr5 with a 22re. Is that where it should it be located?

On my little truck its located on the drivers fender wheel close to the power steering reservoir. About mid way from the core support to the firewall. Could be similiar to the 4runner thou. Not sure

Ive got a stock '87 t4r sr5 with a 22re.

That's the info that was missing from your post.
That year and engine should have the regulator inside the alt, not external.
Just because the alt tested good at Auto Zone doesn't mean it is.

I'm have a similar problem, first it started with just my brake and battery light common on and my voltage jumping to 18 and now the 2 lights are on with no charge so my voltage drops below 13 and i think its the alternator, does that sound right?
