Battery Chassis Ground

So this past weekend I was off-roading and found out when the previous owner resolved the battery they did not install the tie down but rather sat it on top with the bolts upside down.

Heard a loud metal on metal noise when I stopped and after pulling the tie down out found this joy

I tried advanced and the best they have is a copper terminal connector that looks semi similar (loop connected to tube that is crimped) but isn't the exact same thing.

Should I try Toyota or would the copper connector work?

Thanks

It depends.....the crimp connector may work well enough to get you driving again while you order correct part (either from online or the local dealership). Looking at your photo though I can't tell if there's enough wire to reach the attachment point. Did the copper just pull out (sleeve) or did it actually break inside the connector? You might be just barely short.

The main body of the cable goes down and interfaces with the starter solenoid assembly but I don't know if it's actually grounded. I would assume so since most jump starting instructions tell you to connect the negative to a mount, lift tab or other metal part on the motor. If the truck still starts and runs with it disconnected then just let it roll until you can get the right part. You may have some dim lights or other strange electrical gremlins though. I can't find in the manual at the moment what other (if any) electrical links there are between the engine and the body (other than the drivetrain and such).

i leave it alone, but make a new ring connector and cable and attach to the terminal. a foot of 1 guage with ring terminals on both end, you can take that ground off the fender and replace it.

This happened Saturday and haven't noticed anything yet, but I don't wanna risk anything long term. I might do what was mentioned below and run a new cord

This sounds like it could solve the issue. I'll look into that this weekend.
