Battery clamp

With the weather cooling off here in the southwest, my battery started showing its age. Since I wasn't the one who put it in (I think I'm the 4th owner on this one) and it's marked as being 4 years old, I figured I'd just get a new one to be sure.

Anyhow, when I went to put the battery in, it was smaller than the old one. The clamp won't tighten down enough to hold it in place. I was able to put some thick rubber shims in to hold it, but I'm not really happy with that as they'll probably degrade with time.

So it starts just fine now, but stupid question, do I have the wrong battery?

You probably do have the wrong battery, but since you made it fit and it starts the truck, no big deal. Only issue might be not enough CCA when/if it gets real cold in your area.
