battery harness?

Hello, nice forum you have here.... I was hoping someone could give me advice on a problem I m having with my 1997 4runner v-6 2WD. ... Ive been having a problem lately with my car not wanting to start or when it does start, it idles very weakly, and if I use any accesory, the car dies out. I cleaned the battery posts and connectors, my 4 runner started right up, and I used it without a problem all week. Suddenly , it started giving me the same problem, so I took it in to the dealer. The dealer is telling me that the "battery cable harness" is corroded and needs to be replaced. $275 for the part, and 2 hours of labor. OUCH. Ithis seems to be way more expensive than I thought that would be. SO my question is... cant I just replace the cables going to the battery, at a cost of $10 or $20 per cable? Isnt this a relatively easy repair? I have been researching on where to purchase the "battery cable harness" and all I keep getting is qoutes for the positive cable negative cable and ground wire. What exactly is the" cable harness" my dealer is reffering to, and does it make sense that it will cost me $500 to replace it?

I know this is alot for a first post but I do ppreciate any advice anybody can give... thank you...

I havent actually done this, but judging by looking at it, I think you could do it yourself for the cost of just a new cable or two...

it doesnt looks TOO difficult, just my $0.02

Good luck!
