Bay Area Install Help?? OME Coils

Hello,
I got a 2001 Limited. I wanted to install some OME coils on it front and rear but it's expensive at a mechanic. Anyone in the bay area got the tools and know how???

Damn too bad you didn't post this two weeks ago. I just helped another member install a lift. Are you going to do new shocks as well? I'd be down to help in the near future. Where are you located in the Bay Area?

im installing my new bilstien/ eibachs tuesday, im in san jose....ive got the tools needed if your nearby i can help!

wheelers is prob the best place to order from....there price competative....hell i ordered toytec eibach coils from them and there cheaper than toytec!

Yeah we can help you out. I might be able to make the trip up to Oakland at some point or you can come down to Santa Cruz. I'm hoping to set up a mod day soon, so we can knock out a few lingering lifts at one time.

Wheelers or Toytec are good sources for OME and great prices.

What coils are you thinking of getting?

I don't know what is your budget, the Toytec Ultimate Lift kit is great.
I just install on my '98.

Im in San leandro. I might be able to help if time is allow.

I'm not set in stone on anything. Looking for maybe 2-3" lift. Do some off roading/OHV trails. Prefer to spend sub $600. Was looking at the medium OME springs front and rear which give about 2.5" lift.

881/890 is a solid 2.5-3" lift and many people are very happy with the ride. I'd go with Bilsteins instead of OME shocks as people often find the OME shocks a bit harsh.

I was just looking at the springs. How do they perform on stock shocks? Or is that just like dressing up a turd?

I'm at 94k miles on the truck. I know stocks gotta be replaced at some point.

I priced out the OME 881/890 and bilstein 5100's. Not too bad if I got help doing the install. Just curious as to how much different it will ride with springs on stock vs the bilsteins.

I've been contemplating selling my OME front coil/shocks because I want a bit more front lift height and was going to get some Toytec coil overs. Interested in some lightly used ones? These are the 883 with 9004 shocks and new top plates. They are almost 3 years old (purchased 4/25/11) with about 10,000 miles on them.

I'm in Walnut Creek and could even help with the lift. I have all the tools so PM me if you are interested. Could be a win win :)

Replace the shocks at the same time otherwise you'll be doing it soon after. Also the 881/890 need to have longer shocks.

It will ride a lot better with the Bilsteins. You might as well get them because like I said before you'll be replacing them anyways eventually. You really don't want to have to do the work twice.

Also not to derail the thread, but why Toytecs? I have nothing against them, but just curious why you wouldn't go with Kings, Icon's or the like.

Yeah 883/9004s. As for shock choice... it's $$. King and Icon are super expensive. I can get the BOSS for 800 and the regulars for even less. Icons are almost twice that and Kings are over a grand. Since it isn't my DD I think it would be a waste.

Thanks for the offer man but i'm not adding a bumper or winch and think it will be kind of a harsh ride for a daily driver. Good looking tho.

You say that now lol.... the modding bug is contagious :)

I could still help you with your lift if you need help, I think there was discussion for a Nor Cal mod day on another thread and then like 10 people chimed in saying they had room. I have room for about 6 to 7 including street space. But I could just help you one day if you need.
 
I'm in Fremont and can help. I've got space in my garage but would be up to participate. I put in OME 881/906 with OME comfort shocks last year and have been pretty happy. Got it from Johnny @ Wheelersoffroad (super nice guy). If I were you, I'd put in shocks too since it's a lot of work swapping them in the front. I don't have a spring compressor though and ordered the fronts assembled. Be forwarned: right after I put them in, an upper ball joint boot split open. Same thing happens on CV boots I've heard. I ended up replacing both upper ball joints (PITA), tie rod ends (boot split open when I replaced ball joints), and cracking brake lines. Feel free to PM me.
