Bazookas on 4Runner???

I was thinking of putting 2 10 inch Bazooka tubes in my 4runner. Has anyone had experience with them and how would they sound comparing to regular sub-woofers?

I had a 10" passive Bazooka in the back of my 4Runner powered by an Alpine mono amp. I thought it sounded pretty good. I think it's best suited to be mated with speakers that have good bass and mid-range on their own because it's strength is going to be the very low frequencies. The 10" can go pretty low and has plenty of output but it's slow and boomy. In part, I think your satisfaction will depend on the kind of music you like. I listen to a variety and thought the sub sounded best on techno, rap and dance music with deep bass. Straight ahead rock sounded okay and jazz and classical were pretty good as well.

Before that, I had an 8" Bazooka in the back and I thought it was just as good. It couldn't produce as low a range as the 10", but it was faster, crisper and could produce a higher frequency and therefore filled in a little for the upper bass and lower mid-range that the 10" sub and my main speakers couldn't produce very well.

For comparison I had an alpine head unit running to a 4 channel alpine amp connected to 4 infiniti speakers and a second mono amp running to the subwooofer.

See if you can test both and determine what sounds best with your system.

I think you can do better than Bazooka sound wise, but for the money they do a very good job, they're built really well, and they're easy to move in and out of the vehicle.

Thanks Moonbat. I'm looking for Subs that can produce lots of solid, mid bass coming from techno music and not the deep deep bass from rap music. Hopefully the bazookas will do the job.
