This is actually quite exciting b/c you know where this is going............... aftermarket HU's (GPS or otherwise) coming with a connection to the diag port and transmit previously unused data from the car (MPGs, for example). Having a "check engine light" may no longer mean going to get a "scan" at a garage. That would be great. Having said that, mechanics around the country will certainly HATE this. Thanks for sharing!
 
Yep. Saw that a week or two ago. Seems pretty cool.

It's about the price of a ScanGauge or maybe a little more expensive.

I wonder which one is better.
 
I'm sure the scan gauge will be more functional, but if anyone comes out with "apps" to de-code factory specific codes, then this ( or others like it) will be quite useful. It will be useful regardless. Hopefully in less than a few years this will come out!
 
I think this would be better than a Scanguage because it would be be easier to read. I also think not having any wires would be great.

How many codes can the Scanguage decode?

I agree in that it will be easier to read. This will be one less thing for us to purchase. How many codes will it read? Don't know exactly, this is what the manufacture says:
ScanGaugeII - Scan Tool

Anyway, these scanners only read the easier codes (basic), but that's probably good enough. However, if it's a manufacturer specific code, I think it will belt out a numbered code but it will be up to you to see what exactly it is. That's not a problem with the internet nowadays......

If I'm wrong, please correct me.
 
Ok a little update on this thread. I purchased the Bluetooth Diagnostic 327 Scannner OBDII OBD2 scantool found here on ebay. I downloaded torque for the android and i must say this app is freaking awesome. Here is a short video since i cant take pictures of my phone. Link

nice, wish I had the droid. Theres no good apps for my crackberry

I have had my eyes on this though, LapLogger - OBD2 reader/logger


Thinking of buying the 327 off ebay and the software for 14.99 from laploggger.

I just havent pulled the trigger yet because I might wait and get the scangauge II. Its more money, but I wouldnt have to mess with the phone to view trans temps.
