TL;DR: there is grease around the bearing. Is it a leak?
Hey everybody, I'm the proud owner of a 2021 TRD ORP. Leveled with Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75 up front and one inch spacer in rear around 12K miles. Currently at 35K miles. I previously owned a 2013 TE, as well as a 2017 TRD ORP. I have put many many miles on these rigs. My 2021 has had a steering wheel shake basically since I purchased it, varying between 55 to 70 mph.
As soon as I got it I took my rims from the previous vehicle and put them on this one. FN FX Pros with e-rated Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I started having the vibration at highway speeds immediately. This was not an issue with these wheels on previous rig.
Thinking it was a balancing issue I had it in and out of the shop several times of course Road forced balanced by two different shops. Just couldn't fix it. Then I put Yokohama geolander on there. Same issue. Now I have the gunmetal gray TRD rims with P rated Falkens, same issue...
So I'm going down the list trying to get this fixed. Had the tires road force balanced two times now. Went and got an alignment a couple days ago; It's spot on. Swapped out the front rotors today, still shaking. But while I was in there I noticed some grease buildup around the wheel bearing unit. Passenger side has a little more than the driver side. My question, is this normal? Or do you think there's a leak? Bearings are on the list of potential causes of the shake, so they may be next on the list to get swapped out. Appreciate your input.
