Bearing noise???

I have noticed what sounds like a bearing noise coming from somwhere near the front of my engine. When the engine is cold is squeeks until the engine warms up then it just sounds like a bad bearing. All the pullies and bearings around the alterntor, fan, A/C compressor, etc are all good. This sounds like it is coming from inside the block. Any body have any thoughts about what this might be before i go to a dealer and have them charge me $75 to diagnose the problem??

I think I have that same sound...

But mine sounds like it's coming from the rear of the engine.

At first I thought it was the A/C because it would get louder whenever the A/C clutch engaged, but then the noise started to become constant (though soft) even with the A/C off. Checked the A/C, alternator, power steering, and all look good...still have the noise though.

It's driving me nuts!!!

I took mine to my local toyota dealer and they said my power steering pump was bad so they replaced it. When I got my car back it was still making the noise, i got one of the service writers to come out and listen to it and he said it was a normal noise for that engine. So, they screwed me into buying a power steering pump that I didn't even need. I still think that the noise isn't normal

power steering pump or ac condenser are the likely culprits.

the ac condenser is $$$$$

noise

I think I have the same noise I thought it was the water pump bearing but it turns out to be the center belt pulley.

maybe fan clutch? With the engine off, try to spin your fan by hand. If it spins very freely the fan clutch is bad. It should have enough resistance to where it won't spin. If that's not the problem try what the others are posting...

I had a simalar faint woaing noise found it to be the timing belt idler pulley bearing. I replaced the pulley and all that stuff when you do a timing belt.
The pulley kinda spendy though, when you have the pulley in your hand, make sure to check it first.
Good luck!
