Beast Attacked (part two)

I took the Beast into the Dealer body shop (I previously had a good experience there).
They said it was obviously a heavy object like a screwdriver or hammer forced down and with pressure. The headlight is scratched as well. I am going to replace the chrome grille with a color keyed one {galactic grey mica}. Here are a couple pics of the injury as promised.

That took more force than a screwdriver to dent the metal like that....

Now that I see where it's at, Id suspect someone hit it with a pallet on a forklift. Probably had a large load on the front, was turning, and just clipped your hood, and it probably had a large staple or something hard sticking out, or maybe whatever was on the pallet protruded that was metal, which drug across your hood.

They had to have known they hit your Runner too. Shame those a-holes wont let you view the security tape, I bet you'd clearly see what happened. Probably a guy running over to see the damage he did, look to see if anyone noticed, then hopped back on the forklift and took off like nothing happened.

Maybe you need to go ask some questions of the fine folks that work in the area????

Also the scratch started on the left side, above the headlight, and worked it's way to the grille. If you notice, the edge of the hood is bent down where the object first hit, it drug across the lower part of the hood just scratching paint, then when it hit the raised center section, it dug in harder, denting the metal, until it got back on a flat surface, then off the hood and across the grille.

So that would be a forklift driving towards the front of your Runner, making a right turn, and catching the LF corner of their pallet or object on the pallet on your hood, or a forklift with it's passenger side facing the front of your Runner, backing up turning to the left, and it's RF corner of the pallet or object on the pallet scraping your hood.

ahh. thanks. that would make sense since the dent surprised me.....I will mention that to the security people as well. good call. the question is what was a forklift doing in the second row of cars where access to the loading dock was a straight shot from the 1st row? however it happened you are absolutely correct that it took a lot of force. thanks again.

Hahaha, I just like reading clues left behind to try and figure out the sequence of events that took place. I'm not good enough to be a CSI though....

And yes, odd that a forklift would be in that area. No telling sometimes, maybe it was someone just being an idiot and they screwed up by not being where they were supposed to be.

yes indeed Karma should cover that one. It is also a little frustrating as if it was a collision my deductible is $250. but if comprehensive my deduct is $50. so I cannot press my insurance ot investigate though I would love to see those tapes... it's an old fashioned town in many ways Turlock and I am there only for a few weeks helping out in the hospital....would love to "chat" with the dweeb who did this and looked the other way........excited about getting the color key grill. the body shop is a good one (dealer) so I am hopeful it all looks new again. thanks again for the insightful posts.
