Bed Liner on Rear Bumper

After farting around for a couple months. Finally pulled the trigger on truck bed lining my bumper. It has a few dents and as a result the paint started to chip and rust.

Removed Rear Mud Flaps
Removed Rear Bumper Cover
Sanded off surface rust with 100 grit sand paper.
Washed and clay bar.
Taped off Body and Tires.
3 Coats of Dupicolor Bed Liner (5-7 Mins in between coats)
Total Time around 2 hours. Not Including drying.

Turned out way better than I expected! The grain for the liner is pretty fine. Not very blotchy or rough.

Have some pics of the prep. Giving it about an hour for it to dry.
Will get pics up soon!

Can't wait for pics! I've been debating doing this as well, also putting it along the sides where the running boards cover up. I have some rust issues..lol
 
That's funny I was just reading about a new bedliner product that you can get matched to your paint code, its a whoel kit I think its about 120 bucks. About to pull the trigger on it here soon

Looks good, is it black or gray? Maybe it's the way the sun is hitting it. Did you try and fill the dents with anything first?

is it worth it to paint the bumpers on mine with it?? will it stick to chrome???

is there a darker black color than that??

I was going to pound out the dents. But they were in difficult spots to reach. I'm sure filling in the dents would have worked, but didn't give it a try.

The color on the can is "black." It states its paintable. So you could make it whatever you wanted I suppose.

Its just the glare. Its actually darker than that.

Need to darken my flares/front bumper. Anyone have any suggestions on products to do so? Don't really feel like taking them off or taping everything off again to paint.
 
Quick question... I've got the chrome bumpers with a lot of rust coming through little cracks on the outside (I know it's worse inside because I've seen) but would anyone have any suggestions for repairing the outer surface rust and then applying something like this?
 
How "flexible" is the paint? Can it stick to plastic (4th gen)? Where did you get the spray, Home Depot? I am thinking about doing that to my 4th Gen rear bumper. It's all scratched up.

You'd probably have to sand the bumper down. Then apply whatever your going to use to cover it. Not too certain that paints will stick to chrome that well.

The paint reminds me of grip tape. I accidentally peeled some back from the edge when I was putting my flares back on.

The can states for maximum results to sand down your surface. I ended up only sanding off my rusted spots. It'll probably stick to your plastic no problem if you prep'd it correclty.
