Bed liner, undercoating, gravel gaurd, etc.?

Hello, I just picked up my first 4runner and I so excited! I've always loved the '90s toyotas and now I finally have one! Mine is a 1990 v6 auto. I want to paint the body of the truck. I've seen other off-roaders use gravel gaurd, spray in box liner, etc. I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend? I want something that will not de-bond from the body (I've heard that spray in box liner does this). I'm not looking to spend a lot of $$ and I will be doing it myself. It doesn't have to be pretty...just functional. Any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm no expert but I think if you go with the pros you won't have to worry about "de-bonding". I've seen a few people that have attempted to put their own bedliner and I'm not sure if it's improper prep. work or just an inferior product but over time they start to peel etc.
I don't think I've ever seen a bedliner professionally installed come off, regardless of abuse. Not saying it can't happen, just I imagine would be way harder to have happen.

Thank you for your response. What you said about prep work definitely makes sense. Would there be any other product that would have a similar look/effect as bed liner? This may get me flamed but would undercoating work? The stuff sticks to anything and it deflects moisture so I would think it would???
