Bedliner vs VHT for Metal Bumper

Planning to paint my TrueNorth Fab hybrid bumper when it gets here. Any recommendations on what to paint it with? In the past I've used self etching primer and bedliner paint spray cans, but that was on sliders. I've seen several people extolling the virtues of VHT roll bar paint, and other saying the answer was non spray on bed liner.

Those of you who've painted your bumper, any recommendations?

To me nothing looks better than a spray can of satin black paint. That's what everything is painted on mine.

Bedliner doesn't belong on bumpers imo. Just the look of it isn't appealing to me.

Thinking about painting mine as well. Was thinking bed liner too but might not do it now. Im liking the satin black idea

I'm a huge fan of the spray can bedliner from Harbor Freight. Front bumper, roof rack and sliders are all painted with that. Both bumpers and slider on my previous 99 Tacoma were painted with it as well. It holds up extremely well, is super easy to touch up and there is no blending needed. Usually, once it's dry, you can't really tell where the touch up was even done. And it fills in small imperfections or paint ships very easily and nicely.

$7 a can, not too shabby I don't think.

Raptor Liner is AMAZING for affordability, ease of use, and as it is a 2 part urethane polymer it will last way longer than single part bedliners.

Of course, the looks of a product are very VERY subjective and should be balanced against longevity and cost.

I raptor lined the bottom plastic trims of my 2007 4runner and I love it.

I have used monstaliner and its really good stuff. But for the front bumper, Line-X would be the way to go.

That's why I was thinking the VHT. Its a nice Satin Black, plus its a one step paint and primer, and less painting is rarely a bad thing in my book.

I've used Duplicolor "Bed Armor" (spray can, not roll-on) over heavy duty enamel over etching primer (also both rattle-can) for a partial front and tube rear bumper on my Tacoma.

On my in-progress T4R build (2008 V8 Limited), I'm going to Raptor-line all of the armor pieces; Relentless single-hoop front bumper, Victory Rear, and whatever sliders and skids I end up going with. Doing that turned into an excuse for me to buy a 20gal compressor, and I still need to get a 1.8mm spray gun for the raptor 2-part primer (the over-coat kit comes with a sprayer that fits the liner cans).

I'll probably just use heavy duty enamel on the inside surfaces of the bumpers and the recovery lugs. Whatever you do, don't bed-line the insides of shackle-lugs or you won't be able to fit the pins into them.

I used raptorliner aerosol cans, also their primer spray cans, on bumper and sliders. Holding up great so far.
