Been in a wreck?

I have. A few months ago, I T-boned a lady in a 750i (ouch)....my view was blocked, but it was still my fault. I was taking off from a stop sign and she didnt have a sign. Here's the damage:

And here's why I couldnt see her:

That is an electrical box that is about 5.5' tall....ugh.

Oh well.....this car was given to me for free so I only had liability insurance on it. So, the task of fixing it was left up to me. I called the dealership for the parts that I needed (chrome lower bumper, plastic piece below the bumper, both bumper brackets, right turn signal and right parking light). They quoted me ~$750....

Well, that was WAY more than I wanted to spend...even doing the work myself...so I started calling the yards. I found a place that said they had the parts I needed, so I went over there....expecting to have to pull the parts myself. In fact, this place sold new parts (packaged in boxes) and I grabbed everything I needed for........drumroll......$115. These are NEW parts. As I sat there (in the AC) waiting for them to bring the parts to the counter, I watched quite a few guys pick up parts....all for different auto body shops. It hit me.....I had found the motherload!

Here are my new parts installed (after a bit of BFH massaging):

It still needs a bit of work, but is fine for now.

Now, the part that you are all waiting for....the name of the company that sold me the parts. www.certifit.com They sell new parts for MANY different vehicles. Most of their parts are common parts that need repair when a vehicle is in an accident....and they are all made in Taiwan. The quality is perfect and the materials are of similar compound as OEM (the two bumpers weighed the same amount).

Anyway, I figured I'd pass on this little gem for my fellow "tightwads" (i.e. frugal) T4R owners...

Yeah....well, I figured that telling the city that they were the reason I got into an accident wouldn't go over too well....I just plan to not drive on that street anymore...

Looks like fun! I use my jeep as my wheeling vehicle and it has "kissed" many a rock and tree...:biggrin2:

Here's the first time I took my Dad on a wheeling trip:
