Beeping Sound While Sliding, What Does It Mean

I have a 2006 Toyota 4 Runner Sport Edition and was wondering if anyone knows what this means or experienced the same situation. The other day I was I was driving around the corner and the vehicle started to slide, just a little bit and nothing out of control, and the VSC indicator lit up which I expected, what I didn’t expect was that the truck starting making a beeping sound.

I have had other situations which if I am accelerating from a starting position, or if going in a forward motion and the tire slips, the VSC indicator light comes on, but the truck does not beep.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the beeping sound indicates and is this normal part of the truck. I have checked the manual and it does not indicate anything about beeping and VSC.

beeping means the traction control is kicking in

I think it means the stability control (VSC) is engaging to not only regain traction, but using the brakes to help turn or straighten the vehicle. Traction control won't cause the beeping, just a vibration and slowing.

It's the "eject!" warning beep... :

It's the VSC kicking in that causes the beep. It also starts blinking and you can hear the ABS kick in to straighten out the vehicle. Personally, the light and the ABS are enough to know what is going on, the beep is just plain annoying.

ATRAC, on the other hand, still uses the ABS in order to transfer power to the wheels that have traction. No beeps or flashes happen with ATRAC, but you hear the ABS clicking. That's how you can tell the difference between ATRAC kicking in and VSC.

I agree that the beeping is annoying. Never seen any other car beep because of traction.... Can't wait to put in a button to take off traction, that whole system really screws me over in the snow.

Mine also does the same beeping nonsense and junk if it decides it's going to roll backwards some on a hill. Sometimes it won't roll, but when it does it brakes and makes noise.

Definitely not one of my favorite functions of the truck, but it will be dealt with soon.

my 98 gs300 used to beep when i kicked the rear end out on slippery corners. i called it the o **** alarm.
