Being cheap with the lift.. Need some help.

Maybe tax, tire disposal, tire mounting/balancing?

Did you get the $2k quote in writing or did the guy just say "$2k"?
 
I got the bill in front of me. Tires $800. Labor $300. The lift kit here is $600. $90 for alignment. $80 to mount and balance. Then $100 for tax.
 
Kinda high for mount/balance and alig. i just got quoted $60 for m/b, and $60 for alig....do the lift urself, its easy
 
u got tools? garage? jack? use the search engine on here, there are a TON of lift threads. I did mine. Wasn't the toytech, so i didnt have to take the front struts apart like you will. If you want a cheap way, go with the DS kit. I paid $135 shipped from amazon. Its not a spring kit so it wont improve off roading other then more ground clearance. But it will sustain factory ride which the spring kits do not.


oh, and i WANT your rims, sell them to me cheap :)

Check out the link in my sig, I have several write ups listed there that'll help you out on the install. If you have basic skills and tools you can do the install yourself and order the lift online which will save you a ton.
 
You should do it yourself and save some money.

Does anyone have pics of a compressed Daystar spacer? Or, measurements of how much lift you lost? I'm asking because I'm about to buy one of their kits for my 4Runner. I've used their kits on 2 Jeeps without any loss of lift. This one saw a lot of off-road action on a spacer lift.
2001 Jeep Wrangler

The Jeeps had coils all the way around so maybe not as much stress as struts? They're probably lighter too. DS has a lifetime guarentee, but I don't feel like swithing them out if they compress.

I did quite a bit of searching before I put mine on and never saw any threads about sagging

What are you planing on doing? If you plan on off roading a lot go with new springs and shocks. If you only plan on off roading occasionally, go with a spacer lift. As said before it will keep the stock ride. Spacer lifts are A LOT cheaper so why spend the money if your not going to use the set up?
 
no matter what you get, the lift itself is fairly simple. some basic tools, half a day and lava soap is about all you need. i have done 5 here at my house and they are all pretty simple with a few hicups along the way but nothing that cannot be thought through and completed.
save yourself the money and do it yourself. you'll have the pride of looking and saying, "i did that myself"
 
Theoretically those poly spacers can compress but I've never seen it be a big issue. Hard to beat Daystar for the price. Theres a cornfed 3/2 for sell in the classifieds section.

:iagree: If youve got 550 to spend I would go that route as well. Im happy with my DS i just couldnt afford anything more at the time
 
My Cornfed lift uses aluminum front spacers. I have never personally seen a Daystar lift sagging, but if you search the net there seems to be quite a bit written about it. The aluminum spacers can not sag, so for about $50 more I think it is worth it.
