Belt Squeek @ startup

I will obviously show my vast :biggrin2: mechanical knowledge with this one. Anyhow, my belt squeaks for a second or two when I start my car or run over a big puddle. Is my belt dry and need a lube . If not what is the problem? If so what should I use and what is the best/easiest way to lube it. I feel like a 16 yr old asking his dad about advanced birds and bees. haha

putting lube on a belt is not a good way to make it stop squeeling. :p

It's normal.

Mine does it on humid mornings, and any time I hit some deep water.

edit to add: if it get worse, or is too annoying, look into replacing the belts, depending on when they were last replaced, it may be time for new ones.

I'm not replacing mine any time soon though.

As far as belt conditioners... I'm not using any of that stuff either.

Or one of them is loose and needs tightened. After I got my timing belt and others changed, after a day or two one started squealing on cold starts because it stretched some and needed tightened.
