Bending Body part question

as some of you know, I got a new CBI rear and it came with the exhaust port.
its pretty highly tucked up there which is cool.

the problem I have come across is the bottom of the body is harder than I thought. I didn't like the idea of cutting the body cause that would let crap in and rust faster. SO I thought of taking a jack and bending that edge up so I can clear the exhaust. well I will tell you that part is harder than I thought. I bent the flap up after cutting to slits on either side, but was able to lift the runner up with out bending any more. not the best jacking point, but the dam thing didn't move any more.

so now I have new exhaust that bumps the frame and body. only cause we ran out of time and will get it fixed later. but the metal bump is really anouying. so I will be fixing it and hoping I can find a way to still utilize the exhaust port. or I have to by pass it and bring it out the normal way. which is easy, but it looks really cool coming out of that side port.

anybody have issues with running 2.5 exhaust up and over the frame and out the side? this is kind of a vent/info gathering post.

sorry I only have one pic that I can find at the moment. I took some but I also changed phones and can't seem to find the dam pics i took of the new muffler and exhaust.

any suggested on making room for the exhaust. and really dont want to take the bumper off if I dont have too. its heavy. lol

I might have a few ideas if I could see a pic of what exactly the problem is and where you stand right now with the work you've done so far.

If you hadn't already bent that piece, i'd say get yourself a 3" hole saw, and a fresh can of wd40, and go to town, but the bent piece may be in your way now, so your best bet may be an angle grinder and a new cutoff blade and cut yourself a nice square out of the bottom of that quarter panel. Just spray the bare metal with several good coats of a rust prohibitor, and call it a day.

yeah that was the first idea. or a plasma cutter, but I was afraid to make things worst by making a hole on the underside of the body. but I guess paint will surely help. and it might come to that. really dont want to take the bumper off to get my Hammer time on, but will keep you posted. there has to be others with the port and using it? no

will get pics soon. as I have a new camera that is TOTALLY different from my BB so I am still trying to figure it out.

the part over the frame I Think will just have to be manipulated more, so it won't be oval like it is now.

Are you talking about the body seam at the bottom by the bumper?
Try taking an adjustable wrench, pinch it down on the welded seam, and pull.

yeah, there is a seem where the outside is pinch welded to the under side piece. Its about a 1" flap. I cut it and folded it inward and used a bottle jack to push it up. it only went so far. pretty much to the bottom of the seem is all I could get it. afraid after me hanging on the bumper to add wieght. I didn't want to buckle the panel farther up either.

its not just there either. just needs more pipe work to make it right. if the guy cant make it work, then I will go some where else. I think its possible. just work.

as for pics I can't seem to figure out my new android phone to get them on to my computer. so bear with. I will e-mial them to my self and then get them.

I can't get a good pic of the body bent part. sorry

just needs some better pipe work I guess
