Benefits of JBL head unit

I was wondering what benefit's the 06 JBL HU from the 10 speaker unit would have for me over my stock head unit ?

I have what's listed as the prem. 6 disk in dash (option code DJ) with MP3 , WMA , AM/SAT button.

Does the JBL have any better sound ? even with only having a 6 speaker system ? Is it even compatable with the 6 speaker system ? I'm looking for plug and play , no fabricating , better sound and better crankability ( a few more watts of power ) using stock speakers.

I don't know who mfg. the DJ code system I have now or what watts it puts out.

Almost 100% postive if you don't currently have a JBL system, the JBL head unit won't work for you at all. The JBL system, while being pretty good for a factory stereo, is very complicated and strange. No aftermarket parts will work with it, just as it won't work with a non JBL setup. You would need the amps at least, and I hear even the wiring is strange, so you might need to entire setup... Aftermarket such as Eclipse, Alpine, or Pioneer is what I would reccommend.

The JBL Synthesis system is a 10 speaker system with amplifier and subwoofer. The 6 speaker JBL about the equivalent of a stock system with an upgraded head unit. You can't put a JBL Synthesis headunit into a vehicle that does not have the JBL amplifier unit in the back.

So --- if you want to make a difference in your sound --- get a nice aftermarket headunit. It will be cheaper too ....

Yeah if your truck didn't come equipped with the JBL system from the factory, you cannot swap in a JBL head unit. If you want better sound and want it a plug and play install, you'll have to go with the SCION Headunit. Apparently it has a more powerful AMP built into it so the sound is better.

The reason you cannot swap it out is because your stock head unit has the AMP built into it. The JBL system has the AMP mounted remotely (Rear cargo area to the right). On JBL equipped cars the Sub and AMP is located in the cargo area..
