benz owner lookin for a T4R

i have a 1997 mercedes benz e420 4.2liter v8 with 158k miles on it and im tryin to sell/trade it for a toyora 4runner. i came here to research 4 runners. figure out what would be the best for me. my mercedes is worth about $5000 bucks and thats about how much i wanna spend on a 4runner. im not that much into 4wheelin but i guess if i had a 4x4 car id go once in a while. i mostly drive to school and work. what kind of 4runner should i be looking for? mileage, engine size, what year? what mpg do they get? my benz usually gets 300 miles on 18 gallons of gas.

Question...why do you want to sell your E420? Is it costing a lot to do maintenance and repairs? If not, then why are you selling it? A 4runner in the $5k range is probably an equally old 4runner, which means fuel economy is probably not gonna be any better significantly...and maintenance will be the same, but probably a bit cheaper simply because it is not a benz. Still, if you're just looking for transportation, then why not look into something cheaper such as an old Corolla or Civic or even a Honda CRV??

the reason i want to sell the e420 is because its RWD and you cant really fit that much stuff inside. during summer i go camping a lot and during winter its snowboarding season so i just want a 4x4 SUV - a universal car that can be used for almost anything. i hear that 4runners are good. actually a good buddy of mine has a 4runner with similar mileage to my benz and he says its really good and almost never breaks as opposed to some other SUV's like ford escape... plus i like the looks of a 4runner a lot better than my mercedes
