I love the slimlites, I used to have daylighters and they got broken because they stuck out the front so far. the slimlites fit great, even though I have them mounted on some custom brackets. and sorry, I don't have any night time pics with them on, but I have the driving pattern, and they are very bright. it throws the light like a flood light really.

Cool, I might have to order a pair in the near future. Keep up the great mods!

just wanted to share my favorite pic of all, it's the background on my phone and computer and now it's on t4r.org!

Did a couple mods with some blue led strips. First I put a strip under the shifter letters. The other I installed inside the little flip down platform thing on the console, and it turns on whenever you flip it all the way down. (kinda hard to take direct pics of the LEDs, I'll take some in light later)

what sliders are you getting?

I already have some fj trail team sliders. Now I know what your thinking, they are too short, well I have mocked them up and it looks ok. They are bolt on (for an fj), but they won't bolt up to my runner (holes don't match). Now I know what you thinking again, why not weld them on? Well to be honest, I've have heard something very disturbing about welding on sliders. A welder friend of mine (owns a nice modded fj, as well as the land cruiser from the movie "the mist") talked me out of it, and even to me (welding noob), it still makes sense. Plain and simple, he says welding to the frame can heat up the frame too much and cause unwanted expansion and contraction, and thus cause the frame to warp. Now that scares the **** out of me lol. So, as I fix, I have come up with the idea of cutting two slags of metal, one for each side, to weld the sliders to. These i will cut the proper mounting holes and bolt it to my runner. May not be the best way to describe it but I hope it makes sense, I could draw a picture if need be lol

Hahaha ya im sure tons of people for the past 20 years would be warping their frame when welding on sliders... sorry but you are being extremely over cautious. As a certified welder and having a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, i can assure you that when welding on one wall of a rectangular box tube (which is what your frame is made out of) with a MIG welder, you will not experience any warping. The idea behind this that your friend must be getting confused with is the idea that whenever you weld, there is a heat affected zone. Fortunately the frame isnt heat treated at all, so if you dont do anything like quench your weld, then you should be ok. Quite being a ***** and weld that **** on.:flamethrwoer2:

lol well you can't blame me
for being cautious about something I don't know to much about lol. I trust my friend, but you have made me reconsider welding, I'm
definitely gonna look into it more

Just read the first couple of pages of your build. It's where I met you and Andy and y'all caused me to proceed to dump money into my rig! Can't wait til SI!

well, I lurk this forum everyday, occasionally contributing my thoughts. I always love to see
build threads, yet why I dont take pictures while I'm working on a project, idk. However, I took some pictures of all mods done so far, and if your working on something similar maybe I can help you out.

2004 v8 4wd, about 130k on the odo right now. I've been taking great care of this thing, and I run to the dealership at the first sign of a problem. these aren't in any real order, but here it goes.

independent use of foglight mod, thanks for the great write-up j.a. I've also done the fog/high beam mod, I just didn't want to take my steering wheel cover off to take a picture.

true dual straight exhaust dumped in front of the rear axle. no resonator, no muffler, and minus one catalytic converter. this thing is LOUD. I feel I could say it's the loudest 4runner you've ever heard lol. And believe it or not, I get better mpg's after I did this ( about 12 pre-exhaust, and now 16).

steelcraft bullbar with kc slimlites on custom brackets. this bullbar has saved me probably thousands on what would have been front end repair.. ha. this picture shows the biggest dent (a rav4 backed into me in a driveway, leaving a dent on my bullbar and doing 2400 dollars damage to him). the kc's are wired in with my high beams.

id really like to see your pics of your projects, but forsome reason your pics just have an "x" and cant see the image...

if you don't mind would you email me your mods and pics @ [email protected]... I have an 04 TR4 V8 sport, I'm trying to find a good leveling kit, to add a better look, however the xreas are causing me problems and haven't found anything I think will work without compromising my xreas... might just do FJ overhaul .... anyways I enjoy looking at peoples mods so I can get ideas

thanks
Jeffd
