Best A/T for snow

I have K02's and love them. They did awesome in the snow! I went up a hill in a stock 4runner with no lockers that my buddy couldn't get up with his 37" mtrs locked front and rear. They perform awesome. Now I haven't taken them in mud and dont plan to but for the year and a half that I have had them I am super pleased and would purchase again!

I have also had some grabber AT/2's on an old 94 jimmy for a few years a while ago and I cannot say anything bad about them really.

They were quiet, well mannered, great in any amount of snow and wore extremely well

Do you have the space/time to store and mount rims yourself?
If so, just cruise your local craigslist or equilvalent and keep your eyes peeled between now and before the first snow storm.

I've scored steel rims and Michelin Xice's for less than $250cdn dollars. Being stuck in a ditch and/or disabling the car after rear ending someone is NOT an option for my 4runner, as it is usually on road trip duty to the hills like yourself. Mine also rarely sees DD duties except when a car is in the shop or camping during the summer.

Plus, some (most?) insurance companies will give you a rate discount for having a dedicated set of winters.

In Ontario they have to now, BUT they don't have to be dedicated. You can run them all year if you'd like (like I did with my snowflake rated duratracs)

I swear by BFG All Terrain KO's in snow, slush.

Stock Dunflop AT20's are a death wish in snowy conditions.

Michelin MTX is good too, but they have a pavement look to them.

i'm a fan of the BFG KO2.
Run them on my DD, and the wife's 3rd gen.
Never had in issue in the mountains, or driving around town in the snow.

I ran these for awhile, including a trip beyond the arctic circle and back. Quiet on the highway, They have the mountain peak snow rating. Excellent everywhere I took them. Plus they are way cheaper than the BFGs
