Best bang for the buck exhaust????

I've been thinking about an aftermarket exhaust, and while I'm sure the best performance and fit is from TRD products, they sure are pricey. Like the title says, I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. Help me.

Or just have an exhaust shop fit up a nice 24" Magnaflow catback which has a nice sound without sounding too loud and can be done for about $300 installed vs the double you'd pay for a TRD part and you'd still have to install it. Horsepower gains from any exhaust on a NA 4Runner is negligible but the sound and look is worth a few hundred bucks.

this is a bit of a blanket statement but speaking from experience, doing the exhaust (including header(s) and cat back) is seldomly worth the money if what you're seeking is performance on a NA setup. If you were forcing more air into the setup via a turbo or s/c, then yes, letting that increased volume of air OUT is a performance benefit. I spent about a grand on a header and catback on a prelude some time ago. I know, different vehicle. But if I had to do over again, I would have left it all alone.

I'll agree with the $300 cat back - but he's right, you're only going for looks and sound. And if you're happy with just that, leave the header alone. header pipes are notoriously a pain in the arse to install.

Headers are costly for the minimal gains and liek stated above a PITA to install and if you don't do it then somebody will charge you alot to install them.
