What do you think is the best brake pad (brand and model)(for our use on our 3rd gens, including wheeling)?
And why?
The OEM pads for the 231s; I hate cleaning rims.
If using regular calipers, and want to deviate from OEM, then Akebono or Performance Friction. I don't have the model #s off hand.
I run Wagner thermo-quiets, and I really like them, the stopping power is great and I don't have any dust that I can tell of.
x2 I put in wagners about a month ago and have no complaints, especially for the price.
-1 for the wagners for me...
Granted, I put them on my wife's 07 Highlander, but they are the noisiest pads I've ever heard, and her wheels are filthy! I was taught by my ex-brother-in-law to use anti-seize on the backs of the pads for noise, but either it didn't work, or the pads just suck. And the highlander pads are ceramic.
I've got VutoZone Gold sumpin-or-others on my 02 4Runner, and they are a little dusty, but stop well for stock brakes.
