Best Camping Gadgets

My must have for camping is a french press and the best coarse ground coffee I can find.
The bumper dumper does look pretty awesome. I've wanted one ever since I saw Clarkson use one attached to the Arctic Hilux on Top Gear:

Ah, good call. I was assuming it was something like that, but dead-ended at the REI version. I'll have to look around for the camp chef kitchen cause my ex kept the REI one (good riddance). That Bass Pro one looks nice too!

haha, yeah it's the bass pro kitchen the other guys tracked it right down! i have a camp chef that looks just like it though! very awesome camp set-up!

also love my north face mountain ve-25 tent ...had this guy since 1996 and it still kills it in every condition, best single outdoor large purchase ever, soo many seasons of service in the harshest of conditions this thing has never let me down, over 100 summits in this bad boy

also love my mountain hardware snow/rain pants, had these guys for about 7~8 years now and they have been through hell and back and still no rips, i'm talking 3k feet of glissading at a time and then hacking through deep forest and rocky trails...i always love a good bushwack...

honestly i could almost post everyday about some awesome gear i love...haha, and i like nothing more than finding a new piece of kit to play with ,try out and see how it does....it's a sickness...

lol I don't need all this stuff to survive in the wilderness but damn if it doesn't make it nice and easy when I'm out there! This is a pretty substantial list of what I carry on my backpacking adventures. and you don't have to get this stuff at REI. just the quickest links i could find to all the items I wanted to list.
I'd have to say the folding saw is my favorite weighs merely oz's and eats through wood like candy.

I'm a minimalist but ditto on the Jetboil (avatar). Also carry a porta-potty because I have one that is space efficient in my setup. Don't use it by default, but sometimes they can be indispensable. The foam in the futon was replaced by very heavy, high quality foam from a local shop. Best move I ever made.

Also, I don't know how I ever got along without these. I own five.

For me it depends on if you're talking car camping or backpacking.

If I'm backpacking, I have my basics. MSR pocket rocket stove, Mountain Hardware 15 degree bag and Mountain Hardware tent. The tent and bag combined weigh under 7lbs. Headlamp is a must too. I've been super happy with my Petzl. I also never go anywhere without my Arc'teryx Theta SV shell. Thing is bombproof.

Car camping, the skies the limit. I completely agree with Izz. If you're going to go car camping, you might as well make it as comfortable as you can. I just replaced my old Coleman double burner with a Camp Chef series. It is built much better than the current Coleman model.

I'm sure there's plenty of other stuff I'm missing, but that's a good base.

Definitely amazing gear. Just make sure to get the stuff made in Canada. They're making more and more of their lower-end stuff in China and the quality shows. Using their name to sell it. Not a fan, but I understand.

Oh and another favorite recent purchase is my WWII era machete. Been looking for a good one for some time as we often are hacking through areas with no trails and lots of crap like Devil's Club. Most of the machetes these days are POS unless you spend over $150. My friend who does land surveying for the state recommended I look for one on ebay from a specific company. Picked it up for $35 and it's AMAZING! Steel is solid and it holds an edge super well.

that stuff is expensive man! i have a full kit including a full bib, but hardly ever wear it because i care to much haha, deep snow mid-winter only!

check out the L.E.A.F line they have, a few things offered not found on other searches... some pretty cool stuff as well!

guess while im at it anyone mentioned eberlestock or mystery ranch packs, those things are sexy!

Yeah I was pissed. I actually made the kid pay me $100 for ruining it. It WAS a $600 jacket lol. I wore mine all the time in the Oregon rain and snow, they repel water like no other. I miss that jacket but oh well, that was years ago. I'll check out the LEAF line I've never heard of it. Probably because I've been living in the damn desert for the past 8 years :smokin:

i guess since we are talking about the Arc'teryx stuff, the military I.L.B.E. stuff is actually an Arc'teryx bora 90 pack made by propper for the US military, i've had the bora 90 since the day it came out and to this day is still my best pack by far, the soldiers hated it though as it doesn't integrate with body armor well, which is good for us because you can pick them up all day long for around 80~100 with all of the trimmings and possibly the assault pack if you wait it out...i paid $500 for mine like 6 years ago, really good deal for that pack, i use the ilbe assault pack as a truck bag and the main pack just hangs around for buddies to borrow or heading out to go hunting it's great

i think if you don't mind looking like some rambo wanna be it's the best value for money out there....i'm sure one of our servicemen here will chime in on their thoughts about the ilbe and i'd like to hear it as well, but i like it!

Totally worth it IMO. I've had mine for over two years now and wear it every other day in the winter lol it also has underarm zipper "vents" and it's fleece lined around the torso, which you can also tighten up the fleece with two drawstrings in the inside chest pockets. Very wind resistant and pretty waterproof. I've taken it snowboarding and was very comfortable and dry at the end of the day. For $90, you can't beat it. Great all-around jacket, one of my faves.

That stinks. I left my old Arc'teryx shell in Central Park. I realized it when I was walking out and sprinted back to where I was and it was gone. Was so sad but also surprised because I was off the beaten path. Thought for sure it would still be there.

I know I can spot the Arc'teyrx logo a mile away lol someone probably snatched it like a hawk! That sucks though man they are expensive!
