check AmsOil, the have the dryflow technology and well they are top of the line, not sure if they have for runners but at least tacomas I know for sure.. go check out their site..

i just did the deckplate mod. added a k&n filter with a modular air tube from airaid. what that does is keeps your factory airbox and MAF part but replaces the silencer part and tube. works good so far. you can really hear it pulling air in when you get get in the mid range rpms.

wow, sorry but all this termenolgoy sounds like giberish. im kinda new to this, so where shoudl the air inlet be placed, and what a dryflow, and a deckplate mod?

dryflow is air filters that do not require oil like the K&N ones,,, only AEM and AmsOil have them,, or at least they are the top dogs on them

I have an AFE stage 2 intake from 4 wheel parts(have a dealer account set up through them) so i got a killer deal on mine. I think i paid less that 200 for mine. I wouldnt go with K&N. afe's work awesome on diesel's and i think they work great on gas motors too. I noticed a great power difference.

here's mine, I have a noticed a little more pep and at WOT it sounds great pulling in more air

really loud, i am basically used to it now because it was over 3 years ago.. and still looks the same, as far as performance, i dont know, i get alot of looks and respect because its top of the line intake!

my dad always goes for the good stuff because money is not a problem... and the lifetime warranty on the filter! gotta have it

Air Intake General Question

I am looking to add a CAI to my 2000 Runner, and have read the above thread about specific personal preferences. I am basically looking to go with either K&N, AEM, or AIRAID (I like the lifetime warranty)

Can anybody give me any incite as to the installation of each product? I would prefer a bolt-on type as I am just beginning to dive into working on my Runner and want to ease into the difficult work.

Thanks

Hey all, Im noob and saw this and thought id give my opinion. ive got a volant and its sounds pretty mean. its enclosed in a box kinda like afe is it? but ya its nice, no hot air in that lil filter. I love it! i would post pics but im not really sure how.

K&N purchased and installed

I went ahead and purchased the K&N last night then put it in myself. Really pretty simple installation that they coin to be a 90 minute process. Took me about 2 hours and some change since I am still pretty new to all this.

Sounds GREAT, little more responsive to the throttle and hopefully will improve the mileage a bit. It is quoted to increase me 9.4 hp and there are dyno charts that came with the CAI that show the increased performance on my engine.

Overall very happy, especially after getting the guy at the local shop to sell it to me for $240

ya im pretty happy with volant. I got in some pretty deep mud a and was a little worried about hydro locking my engine but nothing got inside. its got a nice sound. A wierd thing happened though. the filter comes blue and after a couple months it changed to grey so ya kinda crazy. here is a pic its kinda hard to see it, cause i was doing a before and after set but its the only one ive got haha
