Best complete 3" budget lift for my 2000 LTD

Okay, I have spent days searching this forum for different ideas on a 3" lift for my 2000 LTD w/135K. Initially, I was considering the Toytec $389 OME coils (881 & 890). Then I read a ton of guys going to the TRD Tunda fronts and LC rears. Now, I think I just read that some people are putting stock FJ shocks on??

So instead of driving myself nuts, I figure I would leave this up to the subject matter experts to help me out. My initial budget was +/- $400 and as I stated, I was targeting the Toytec OME, but now I found out you have to replace the rear shocks. This is starting to get confusing.

Here is what I am looking:

~ Would prefer to purchase a complete set-up, rather than chasing a bunch of different parts/part numbers and than putting the puzzle together (unless someone has a list of P/N and where to get them.
~ This is for a spare truck, but will only see dirt/mud 2x a year, it will see more snow here in the NE.
~ I don't want a stiff ride but I will be towing with it, so would the 890s be too soft? If I couldn't get the best of both worlds and had to choose between a comfort ride vs. a stiff ride for better towing. I would prefer the comfort ride.
~ Are there any inexpensive shock options I can look into or is this out of my budget?
~ If you have any ideas please be specific. If you think I should go with LC rear, then please tell me what wrap, P/N and wear to get them.....

I have zero experience with the Tundra/cruiser/FJ setups but I can speak to the OME. I have it on my 2002 and love it. It is a little stiff but all and all a really good ride. I do some towing with it and it does quite well. I can say you had better get new shocks with the lift as the springs are quite different beasts and more than likely wear out the stock shocks quickly, but that is just a guess.

I know a lot of guys use the LC coils in the rear as I have myself on my two previous 4Runners but I am pretty anal about my rig sitting level and I could never seem to accomplish that on either of the two previous 4Runner's that had LC coils in the rear. As a matter of fact I have a set of LC coils in the shop that I've had for a few years but still decided to do the OME setup.

Bilsteins are a bit heavy on valving tokikos are supposed to be really nice and oe, I slapped cheap Monroe on till I decide if I'm going coil overs and through the rear bed of the runner.

You need to get a shock that lets the spring extend or you will be limiting it, compressed around a 14.5 extended on lc coils is best around the 9.5-0" mark so say 23.5+ extended... they sit at an angle so they get more than 10" of movement.

I paid $26 a shock on the rear and had I thought about it when at the junk yard grabbing my lc coils I'd have grabbd the stock tokiko rears for cheaper....

I just did tundra 5100s (adjustable) up front with tundra trd coils (yl/bl yl/yl) and lc coils 8 wrap in back with cheap Monroe shocks for $390. Could have saved a few bucks with the lc rear shocks....

Which LC coils do you have in the shop? And are you considering selling them?

My truck had Bilstein shocks when I bought it but they were factory length I am sure. I did not change them out when I installed the lift. I don't think it is mandatory. If I need to swap them out I will down the road. My truck rides relatively well as it is though.

Which LC coils do you have in the shop? And are you considering selling them?

Honestly I am not certain which ones they are but I will most likely just keep them. Never know when I may change my mind and want to give them a shot.

Count the coils on it its either 7, 7.5, 8, or 9 and theres a lc coil thread that will say and what color are the paint marks on it thats another that will help tell.....


As far as mentioned above that longer shocks arwnt needed they arent but as soon as you hit a bump that kicks the rear high enough it will abruptly stop as the upwards travel ran out of shock length but based on what you said you don't off road so its not a big deal.....being as it lifted the truck with springs then your short stock shocks are now almost maxed out from spring height.

If you do off road swap the shocks out so the back end can flex and articulate to keep the rear tires on the ground... if you

I did, but it just gives you general information. Everyone has specific needs and that is why I posted this thread.
