Best Exhaust? Borlas? Flowmaster?

What's everyone's opinions?

Is the Borla system really better than flow masters? The performance gains sound similar, yet Flowmasters are typically only $300, instead of $700 plus fro Borla...

Inquiring minds must know!

I am not an expert on the subject, but as far as gains i would think they are all along the same...all are free-flowing exhausts...i am a fan of magnaflow...they use straight-through mufflers...flowmasters are chambers and not straight though...i dont know if this effects performance results or nott...Borla is just really expensive so i have stayed away from it

Well what material are each made of? If the Borola are stainless like they typically are for lots of cars than that adds significantly to the cost. A lot of flowmaster systems are aluminized steel which is cheaper but doesn't last nearly as long.

I just installed the Borla Performance Dual Exhaust on my 03 V8. It is really awsome sounding. I'm definetely happy with it. I also want to get a K&N FIPK kit whenever it becomes available.

Ok, those aftermarket exhaust system better be stainless steel! Why?? Because your STOCK (OEM) exhaust system IS stainless steel and will last the life of your vehicle.

So, if you were to UPGRADE, then you better be darn sure that it is AT LEAST stainless steel...otherwise, you're just screwing yourself down the road, especially with only minimal (at best) gains in power!

Just my opinion.

My Runner came from Toyota with the dual Borla and an aFe reuseable filter. Try the aFe website, similar to K&N. I know of a few people who are running the Borla with the aFe.

I'm pretty sure the borola is going to use a straight through design like magnaflow. Flowmaster needs 12 inches of tailpipe after the muffler to effectively resonate the exhaust gasses and get the "suction" effect which makes the fm really "flow". As far as power differences, they are going to be menial. You're only going to get 5 or so hp from a cat back on an N/A engine.

flowmaster works great for me, sounds good but not over the edge.
