Best feature/capability of 4th gen 4Runner.

Beautiful day in NJ today and it got me thinking of the absolute best feature of my 2008 SR5..... some may say its the ruggedness, or the 4WD, or the handsome body, or the V6/V8, or the reliability, etc., etc.,

... but for me, the absolute best feature of the entire truck, especially on a day like today is.....

the roll down rear windshield.

Nothing like it on a beautiful day with the windows down.

What about you??

On a hot sunny day, it'd be the Toyota AC, damn thing spits out ice cubes in 90 degree weather!

In general? I'd say the balance of street comfort and offroad prowess.

What He said ..here in Phx with 110 Avg In summer 3-4 minutes cold as Ice and the Overall On / Off road performance
 
Not having stuff BREAK DOWN like it did on my Jeep all the time! Now I can spend my money on MODS AND UPGRADES!
 
My favorite feature would be the mirrors in the cargo area. I think they help others with blind spots, but I use it for parallel parking! Comes in handy when I gotta park in a tight spot!
 
It's a Toyota, and it does everything well. And it's reliable. My wife's 89 Camry has 262k miles, and is still going strong--no major mechanical work.
 
I agree with all the choices above, but I gotta chime in with the fact it has a AWD V8 that gets me nearly 20mpg! HOLLA!:thumb3:
 
The best feature is definitely the roll down hatch window. I don't know how I would be able to back up at night if it didn't roll down cause I can't see sh!t through my 5% tint at night lol

hahaha i just read the thread title and thought of this! It's the little things that count!
 
Good thread. It made me to examine my usage pattern and, yeah, the automatic rear window wins easily.

Off-road, it's the flexible transfer case.
 
The 2UZ-FE was specifically designed with truck use in mind, cast iron block, low torque curve, ect. I honestly can number the number of modern mid-size SUVs with V8's on my hand that can handle city and off-road as well as a 2UZ-FE equipped 4Runner.
 
Well, coming from an '01 Tacoma the 4Runner is so far ahead on the little things that is hard to mention all of them. I guess its all relative to where you are coming from. I think the thing that is the biggest benefit for me is 3rd row seats. Its hard to find an off road worthy vehicle with 3 rows of seats, especially when factoring reliability and MPG.

You are a MUCH better person than I am. I just cannot see or make sense of the convexed image that those mirrors provide.

However, ive become a pro at parallel parking these bad boys in downtown Boston, where there isnt enough room to do SQUAT! Hell, these roads were made for horse n buggy and the spaces look like theyre designed for Yaris cars. The 4Runner (i feel) has pretty good turn radius so I dont have to keep doing 5-7 point turns to get it in tight spots.
