Best kind, best place for mounting a CB

I know my cars a 4th gen but I mounted my CB on the driver side of the center console. I run a Cobra CB with a walmart antenna. it works pretty good but I was going to take order on a wilson antenna soon. I got pics of my set up if you want inspiration.

If you don't want to deal with mounting a large box, you can look into getting the Cobra 75WX ST. Everything is inside the mic.

I havent been into it for a while, but Galaxy was a good brand.
For someone who wants a CB on the next level.
Also has a freq counter.
A good CB shop will also be able to mod it with a slider for in between frequencies. And he should be able to peak and tweak it for more watts.
I would get one with SSB. Two people with SSB will be able to communicate further than on AM.

2nd gen Runners are double din
Some folks with after market stereo head units fill up the pocket (space) below their radio with a compact CB. Uniden/Cobra/Midland all make mini sized ones.
Other folks with factory double din head units use the space occupied by the ash tray...
search a bit in the main forums ( for your generation of truck) just page back a few pages- also this question covered extensively on YOTA TECH.

What I wound up doing was a little fabrication - using a piece of shelving bracket, I attached it to the passenger side of the shift boot plastic housing, using existing screw holes (which fastened to structural metal). I then attached the u-shaped mounting bracket with the CB (I scored a Midland CB in good condition from Goodwill for $4.99, but still need an antenna) and I was all set. I really should take some pictures. This would seem like it would be doable with many different years, depending on the fastening screw positions for the year in question.

Here are some shots of the final CB installation. I used a piece of shelf bracket as an adapter from the side console mounting screw positions to the CB mounting piece. The antenna was a single truck CB antenna adapted to this position. Coax was run up through the boot decking and under carpet. Whole thing was tuned and peaked by Apollo Communications in Glendale, AZ. I apologize for the less than perfectly focused pictures. I hope you get the idea.

on my 2nd gen 92 i mounted it on the dash facing drivers side set back off the curve a lil, its such a tight squeeze in the 2nd gen im a big dude so leg room is key!
