From what I gathered, you need both tacoma LBJs and tacoma OTRs for it to work. However, people have reported a decreased turning radius and/or rubbing issues.

So how is that not definitive evidence that they work? If you concentrating on the decreased radius thing then okay. I'll give you that. Doesn't mean they don't work though. I think where the question still lies with these if whether or not they're any stronger than the 4Runner parts or not.

I don't see the "strength" of the Taco LBJ's being anything noticeable. All I've really come to the conclusion with is that it hampers the turning radius. It's not like you ever hear about issues with the casting of the OEM 4Runner LBJ.

2012 4runner with free play in LBJ

I'm considering replacing my lower ball joints because my mechanic showed be that they have a small play in it. He contacted his supplier and he said that OEM LBJ only come with the control arm??? I can't find OEM ball joints for 2012 4runner. Is that true?

I can find 3rd party LBJ like MOOG and others for reasonable price but seems like most here highlt recommend the OEM.

2 OEM control arms and 2 hours of work will cost upwards of 1300$

Can somone confirm or provide information on how get just OEM lower ball joints at a more reasonable cost?

For your 2012 4Runner, you need to ask this question in the 5th gen Toyota 4Runner section. This is the 3rd gen 4Runner section for 4Runners made between 1996 — 2002.

Your mechanic is wrong. I dont get why people say stuff like this. He is not looking at oem parts most likely. Buy oems only and bring them to your mechanic.

4Runner LBJ is also shared by Tundra and Sequia of these years, which means it's probably good enough for a light 4Runner. Personally i have mevotech lower ball joints waiting to be installed, I like them because they are greasable and have some special blend boot or something. I have inner and outer tie rods from a tundra waiting to go on as well.
