You will not gain anything without doing other things in conjunction with this, like increasing diameter size of the exhaust system & plus headers. Basically the engine is a vacuum pump. You can not get any more air into it without a pressurized intake system (turbo/supercharge) unless the air filter is restricting air flow, which it is not. If you don

I'm dynoing my truck next week so I'll have some numbers with and without the deckplate;I know on 3rd gens the "hole" or removal of the intake elbow in the fender an honest 6-8whp has been realized but if it's there you don't really notice it in power or MPGs but it is loud at WOT but it's a cheap enough mod ($15 or so) to justify spending a couple of hours tinkering on a Sunday and every little bit helps on the 3rd gen V6 and their whopping 183hp.
If I had a 4th gen I doubt I'd even worry about anything beyond an aftermarket drop-in and maybe an exhaust since 236hp would be enough for me after a few years of driving a 3rd gen. For the $$$ outlay the filter kits just don't give the proven return in niticeable performance and you'll never recoup the couple hundred you spent but it does look cool when you open the hood and that's enough for some people.
(I know,is it worth the money to even dyno it? No,not normally but I'm getting a pull for $10 so I figured what the heck)

Maybe, maybe not. I elect you to be the first one to dyno before and after the intake to solve this mystery for good! , might as well start with the intake and go from there! The only real problem with dynoing after mods on these newer cars is how the computer adjust the increase in airflow, etc. If you do backup runs with different mods relating to airflow(intake/exhaust) reset the computer before each run and see if that makes any difference.

I would dyno it as is (completely stock) and then with no air filter in place. That way it will tell you if there is anything to gain in the first place.
