I wish I could go, I gotta work that day. It's very rare that I have to work on Saturdays though. Definitely keep the t4r guys up to date!

Looks like all you guys had a real blast during this off-roading event at the Pine Barrens. I've never done any serious off-roading and I'm sure it would be a huge thrill but I have a serious question......
Not to sound like a curmudgeon...... But i've read about a few who've had some problems with real cost, concern, and inconvenience right after the trip. For the guys who's truck is their DD, is the thrill of the off-roading and blasting through the water and mud worth the risk that you won't royally screw something up?

Just use common sense. Everyone there uses their 4R as their DD (I think). Most people had zero issues after doing it. Obviously, nobody tries to break something but you know the saying, sh*t happens sometimes! Personally, after I washed all the mud off, you can't tell my truck even went there. I'm sure most others can say that as well. 4Runners are made to take abuse off road. As long as you use common sense, you should be fine.
I use mine as a daily driver. I had some concerns going up there, what happens if I get stuck? what happens if I break something? I just figured it was something that I haven’t done before, and any cost incurred would be unavoidable for the sake of saying "I DID IT!" I was highly surprised at the capability of my stock 4Runner. Running through the water was probably not the best idea but I wasn't worried as long as I kept moving. The group we went with was a mix of people who have and have not done serious 4x4ing. FJ was nice enough to lead the entire day. Some of the things the stock trucks would not have been able to do. Because of his expertise there was always a way out, or around, if someone didn’t want to do something. Well done sir! I washed my truck after I got home. I still need to get under it and really get the underside. Not to mention the engine bay needs a good wash. Will I go again? Absolutely!
