Best place to buy Bilstein 5100's

I'm actually still working through TRULY understanding what it takes to lift these things... You think you could share the key elements that are required to accomplish like a 1.5 to 3" lift that compliments daily driving but also capable enough off road? Like what all will I need to buy to do this. I'd appreciate any tips.

I've been looking around/reading the last couple weeks so trying to start looking at some serious options of what I would consider

.

In the front, you will need a shock with adjustable height settings to get lift. The 5100 does this, as does its bigger brother the 6112. Their are also more expensive options like ICON, FOX or KING that feature more goodies on their shocks, these would be for the more serious offroader.

Most of our customers just start with a front lift. In the rear, you will need either a spacer or a new spring to bring the rear up. Spacers are inexpensive under 100, and springs will set you back a little over 200.

Huh. I ordered them from CarID and it shipped 3 days after order. Fronts and rears. They did send me the wrong rears and it took another week to get the right ones. The price was phenomonal I think I paid under 300 for the fronts and rears.

It seems like that always happens to me when I order something from Amazon.

While they run specials sometimes, CarID is at 351.92 + 9.77 for the shocks at the moment. We dont charge shipping to the lower 48.

Welp! I'd bet I'll most likely be buying something from you guys over at TotalAutomotive!

Took the rig off pavement for the first time since owning it this last weekend when we took some friends in from out of town up to sedona.... We visited the Devils Bridge and opted to take the offroad trail in to get to the trail head... Will say, the truck didn't skip a beat, but being in stock form, new to offroading, no lift, stock pavement tires etc.... I was one worried about hitting any rocks to hard not knowing how sturdy the tires are, and also only tapped the bottom once and pretty sure it was the damn running boards keeping me from clearing effortlessly.

I now know my path forward lol. Time to get a lift, some decent tires/wheels and get rid of these running boards to replace with the Rock sliders I want :-D

Ashame kinda.... now I gotta find the extra cash :-( ha


I keep just wondering if I should just say screw it and go with the 5100's... (<--- That number had ZERO meaning to me just 2 weeks go before buying the 4runner and starting to research this stuff hahaha.).... I just don't know from what I've already been seeing, if it's even worth considering anything else, with all the good feedback I'm seeing regarding the Bilsteins for the price and off/onroad capabilities

The 5100s are a great upgrade for the 4Runner and will give it a nice stance as well as some room to clear larger tires.

Also look at its bigger brother, the 6112. These ride great both on & offroad.

Technically, no depending on where u set the lift at. At 2"+ a lot of alignment shops will have difficulties getting your #'s back into factory spec ranges.

On the same note, Mike from total automotive was very helpful answering all my questions about the shocks. Im very satisfied with my purchased and services. I bought 5100's and fox shocks. I haven't install them yet but as soon as I do, I will post them up.

I figured there was more to the story.... not sure how you got those prices. even with 10% off it wouldnt be $305 (or under $300) thats a great deal if the REALLY have them in stock

The price changed constantly, day to day.

Combined came to 328.94 - 10% (32.89) 296.05. Like I said, I got a phenomenal price. CarId's customer service was decent. The shipped within 3 days of the order. The rears were wrong and it took about a week and a half to get the replacements to my door.
