Best rear shocks?

Looking for opinions and reviews for rear shocks for my 2004 4Runner? Using it as a DD and putting a 3" front and 2 " rear lift via new coil springs. Would like to hear recommendations from other users on which rear shocks they prefer. Thanks

5100s/OME < Radflos/Icons/Walker Evans/Fox there are a lot of choices out there, also 2.0 vs 2.5 diameter, reservoir vs non reservoir, depends on how much wheeling youre planning on doing really

Planning mostly for a DD but some off roading. Probably going to stick with the 2.0 shocks and no need for a remote reservoir I am thinking. Mainly wanting something to perform great as a DD and do good offroad as well. I was just going to go with the Bilstiens for the rear but I thought I would throw out an opinion poll first. Others I am considering are Icons and Fox.

a lot of the higher end shocks are valved differently for different uses. You really need to decide how many people and how much gear you'll be carrying as well as the type of offroading. Once you figure it out, call the different shock companies to see which is the best fit. I'd also recommend finding a couple trucks with the setups you're looking for and see if you can get a ride to see how they perform.

If you want to spend a little more for Icon VS2.0 shocks, they really aren't that much more than the 5100s and ride a lot nicer, I had these on my FJ and absolutely loved them.

thank you for the comments...anyone else using the Icon 2.0 rears and why are they better than the Bilstein?

I have them. I think they are longer than the 5100's so you may get a bit more flex out of them. They're also rebuildable and fully tunable by changing the valving and nitrogen charge which the bilstiens are not. But even off the shelf they work great. Cant complain about them at all.

From what it sounds like, this will be doing mostly DD duty.

Currently run 5100's in the rear with superflex springs and I'm very very happy with the on road performance. No experience with Icon rear shocks but I think you'll be happy with the 5100's price and performance. At Wheeler's the Icons cost more than twice as much as the 5100s.

Rebuildable/tuneable are neat features but if you wear out your 5100's you can just replace them entirely down the (long) road and still save money. Although some people tune their shocks, I'd bet the majority of people don't go through with the trouble of revalving their shocks.
