Best Size & Brand Tires ??

I am having a 2.5 lift installed and have made arrangements to buy a set of 17 inch SE wheels.

Here is what I am lost about.

1. Which is best on/off road tire?

Nitto Terra Grappler
BF Goodrich All Terrain
Bridgestone Revos
Goodyear Silent Armor
Toyo Open Country AT

2. What is largest size I can run without rubbing issues and lost of ride comfort?

265-70-17?
275-70-17?
285-70-17?

3. Would powder coating the SE wheels last?

Any answer will help me in making my choices, thanks.

i got a 2.5' lift & 285/70/r17..
it has a little rubbing when i fully turn my wheels.
but i dont think i need to modify anything to prevent the rubbing
its a minor thing in my case..

AFAIK none of the tires you listed come in 275/70-17. If you worried about gas mileage, I would go with 265/70-17. Anything above this will have rubbing issue is you off-road. I've been VERY happy with my Nitto Terra Grapplers. They're a great balance between on and off road needs.

I couldn't be happoer with the tires I upgraded to which are 1" larger than stock.
Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos

I had waited till the factory tires wore out on my 3rd gen to get the Revos. I liked them so much I got them installed on the 4th gen within the first 300 miles of taking ownership. Great combo of on and off road performance. Big improvement over stock and they look great with a 2.5" lift as you are interested in as well.

On road the Nittos have great wet weather manners than any other true AT tire I've driven on.

Off road the BFGs might have a slight edge but their poor on road (especially in the wet) and $200 cost out the door over the Nittos made my desicion pretty easy.
I've got over 25k on mine and many off road runs over the 2+ years I've been driving on 'em and I don't have any regrets.

They won't last as long as the BFGs but I drive on 'em kinda hard and I'd expect close to 50k out of 'em which is fine with me. I like new tires every 4 years or so instead of driving 60+k on a so-so performer.

I am currently running ProComp AT's, and they have been a fantastic choice so far. Didn't pay attention to where you are, but if snow is something you deal with, I highly recommend them, as they are siped out the wazoo and have a severe weather rating, and a 50000 mile warranty. I now go places in 2wd I used to have to use 4wd to go. They have great bite and the only place they have failed me was in a wet mud/sand mixture, which any AT is going to fail in. Not sure what sizes they are available in and how much you are willing to compromise on the size you want, but they are fantastic tires. 10k miles on them so far and will be buying them again.d

I also found a place to do the customizing of the SE wheel I bought.

I will post the pics once I get the wheels back, the tires mounted and the lift installed.

Are you going to powder coat your rims?? If so, then how much did it cost??

Decide not to powder coat, instead I am having the lip area polished and the inner area custom painted.

Powder coating is averaging 70-80 per wheel with a 10 day turn around here in the bay area.

Customizing the wheel is costing me about 125 per wheel with a 3 day turn around.

Cost less then what I paid for my AR's, Also wheel techniques gives me lifetime guarantee on the work.
