Best tire pressure for LT265/75/R16?

The best tire pressure is the one stamped on the side of the tire.

If it says 60 PSI max then I would run 50 or 55.

If it says 50 max I would run 45 PSI and so on.

BTW there is no difinitivee relationship between tire size and tire pressure. Every tire type is different

I know this is an old thread but I was looking through a couple threads regarding tie pressure for these runners and came across this post which caught my attention. The max PSI on the tire is the maximum PSI you can run the tires when loaded up or using a trailer. You do not run anywhere near this psi when your vehicle has no payload. You will be severely over-inflated.

My XJ's tires say 2230 lbs at 55 psi. The only time I'd run 55 psi is when I'm placing 2230 lbs on it. All four tires will support almost 9k lbs and my XJ, when empty, is roughly 3500 lbs. So basically I need a little under half of the max psi to support the vehicle's weight and I run em at 28 front-26 rear. I've never had an odd wearing tire, nor has any tire in my 21 years of driving wore out completely. I usually have to sell them due to dry rot.

Running near max PSI will wear your tires in the middle and give you a jarring ride.

The best tire pressure is the one that gives you the best handling, tire wear and gas mileage. It's trial and error based on your vehicle, tire and driving style.

That being said, I always buckle my burrito in the the passenger seat, regardless of tire pressure.

LOL....just because the thread is so old and its about tire pressure. " nor has any tire in my 21 years of driving wore out completely". Man...I wore a set of all four tires to the threads showing within 30 days of buying my first rig! 50 Chev with a strong built 327 and 4 spd. My dad made me part it for several months until I could get enough money for new tires! That was only the first set of tires I have worn out completely. hahahaha...its just a funny reply
