"Best" tire size after lift/leveling kit install?

Hey guys....hoping to have a lift/leveling kit installed on my '08 SR5 soon. Currently have 265/65/17 on the stock rims. What would be a good tire size to go up to without having to go to spacers or mega trimming? I'm looking for a larger tire obviously. This rig is my daily driver and I just mover to Denver where there will obviously be snow to contend with. Otherwise no hard-core offroading...just exploring off the beaten path.

Also, do you guys have any recommendations on tire brands. The guy at Discount Tire showed me some Hankooks...but I don't know anything about them. I've heard good stuff about the BFGs and like the look as well....worth the money??

i am running 265/65-18 which is a 31.5 tire. i have DS 1" in front with FJ shocks/springs and DS 1.5" in rear w FJ springs a 4R shocks. no issues with the 31.5. looking at the clearance now i dont think you could much bigger. i know that ARK_SWAMP_RIDER has 255/75-17 with a slightly lower lift than mine and hasn't mentioned an issues with rubbing. the 255/75-17 measures out to 31.9. so i would think that you should be safe with anything that measures out less than 32"

your 265/65-17 measures out to 30.5 inch.

if you look at tire websites like Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels you can see the tire size in the specs of any particular tire.

It totally depends upon which leveling lift you're talking about. It could be just a single set of 1" spacers up front, or maybe a 2/1 or 3/2. All are considered leveling lifts and lots of guys here have all three.

If you're going with just a 1" front lift, the stock tire size probably looks best, or maybe 265/70/17.

Looking at a 3/2 lift. After doing a little more research today, I might add the Spidertrax 1.25" spacers as well.

The 32" is probably the nicest upgrade for a minor lift and it doesn't affect gearing much. Many are happy with a 275/70/17 or a 255/75/17. If you go with 285's there's more trimming and you can't carry a fulle-sized spare easily.

Best size IMO is the 255/75/17. I've got 1.5" lift on the front of mine, and this size fits great. I've not been off road so I don't know what'll happen there, but so far no rubbing issues at all. The biggest benefits to me are that I'm able to carry the same size spare, and also that my gas mileage wasn't negatively impacted (from what I can tell, I'm getting better mpg with the larger tires).

As far as tires, I'm pretty sure they showed you the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's. That's what they recommended to me, and after hours of reading/searching, plus having good luck with Hankooks before, I chose them. I'm really happy with them. Look great (IMO, I know that's subjective), ride smooth, quiet (not a street tire, but one of the quitest AT tires I've seen), and from the reviews I read, excellent performance off road (I've not had time to test them out yet).
