I really like the X-Bull Recovery Treads for the price... a pair of the HD version (10-ton) was $118 from Amazon and they were a lot nicer than I expected! I read several reviews and watched a bunch of comparison videos before making the decision to try them.

The best ones are those you remember to bring on the trail.....

I went for the knockoff X-bull ones from Amazon (something like $60 or so). So far they're pristine because I haven't had the opportunity to use them. I've either wheeled with a buddy that pulled me out or broke out the winch. At some point I expect to be buried in a mud bog or some sugar sand and need them but so far, not so much.

I don't know now UV stable these things are but folks love to have them bolted to the outside of their rigs, just waiting to be stolen. Mine ride behind the back seat, in front of the fridge. Sure, they take up some space but I doubt they'll shatter or disappear that way. Once I finally use them and they're good and muddy I'll strap them to the roof rack for the ride home.

I got the X Bull ones off Amazon and they have worked great. I think they were $80 when I got them. Here is a good comparison video.

I think if I were going out every weekend, doing "overland" trips for extended periods of time, etc I would go with Maxtrax, but these are about 25% of the cost, so you can't beat that for how well built they are.
