Best way to remove scratches?

Hi all,

I have lots and lots of scratches on my 99 T4R. I bought her used and it looked like the neighborhood brats had a field day with it. What is the best way to remove them. Keep in mind I am not looking for a show car finish, just want to get rid of the smaller annoying ones. I have a random orbit sander with polishing bonnets. Would that work?

Does the scratches catch your fingernail? If it does, don't bother, the clear is gone and you're in the base coat.

I would prefer using a product like Meguiar's Scratch-X and buff it out by hand instead of use a DA sander. S
