best year or range of years

I am looking for opinions on advantages/disadvantages of different year models (or range of years). Which year was best!

All I have heard so far is to shoot for the range of years 95-2000. I don't know the validity or reasoning to that...yet.

1995 is the last year of the second gen 4Runner.

1996-2002 are third generations. I like the styling of the earlier third gens. But later third gens had A-TRAC and e-locker.

Fourth gens are 2003 to present. I like 2006+ since the styling got updated. 2008 would be best since it has the VSC off button.

I've got 140k on my '99 (which was the year of the mid gen upgrades) and have only replaced axle seals outside of normal maintenance.

What is your price range?

Because there's no such thing as a TRD 4Runner. RonMaiden just used the graphic on his 3rd gen.
