All the regular stuff that works on every car. Keep the tires inflated properly, easy on the throttle etc...

- Take ALL items out of the vehicle that you do not ABSOLUTELY need. Believe it or not some people use their vehicles as mobile storage facilities carrying all sorts of JUNK that add lots of weigh.

Pretty much covered everything...
Try and commute during off-peak hours when traffic is lighter or take alternative roads that have fewer cars. I usually a take longer route (less than 5 miles more vs. the popular route) that doesn't have me sitting in traffic.

Good list! I would add that I pump up my tires to 40psi and don't find the ride too harsh. Also I note that premium gas, on a percentage basis, has come down in price relative to 87 octane. It seems to have maintained the same 20 cents premium when going from $1.50 to $3.10/gal in my area. It is the same $4.00 difference when I fill my tank for $60+ as when it cost only $30.00 a short time ago.
As for your next to last point....I wonder if it is possible to squeeze a little better mileage out of a VVT-I engine by using premium gas rather than 87 octane? If so, enough to make up the difference in price?

1 more to add. . I've only done about 20 total tanks of gas. . and 8 of those have been Chevron 87 octane, and when I do my calculations (keep a log in my truck), i average about .5-.8 MPG better on the chevron gas. This is mostly keeping everything else equal. Mixed driving, Good air pressures, all during winter. This is in my V-8. . so now, i look for a chevron wherever I go.
