Think he was saying Don't add it all up, as in, Don't start adding up all the money that we spend on our rigs. Hell, I think I have spent almost my purchase price or thereabouts so far, and I am not done. I think there is a post floating around here about how much you have spent on your rig somewhere..

lol I try not to think about it. Because just the shocks alone are worth more then what I paid for the 4Runner.
Today I had an awesome day. Went off roading and exploring. Pushing the truck hard. And she handled well.
However I felt the LCA skid make good contact with the frame. Will have to call RCI tomorrow to see what they can do.
Also I think I need my steering haft welded.

The theory about OP having gotten the wrong gen skids seems most plausible. Basically same is definitely not equal to the same thing.

I think they just got a bit flustered with the group buy which I think is understandable given the HUGE volume of orders they received. It's a tough gig being a "small" shop and having hundreds of orders going all over the country. Give Josh a call and he'll square you away.
I received the incorrect front and t-case skids. They shipped out the right ones the same day I called, and e-mailed me a label to ship the other ones back to them. He even asked if I still had the box, and offered to send me a new one if I didn't.

I was joking. Just lately he had been installing lots of parts and then complains on here. He had issues with rear axle, rear shocks, and now RCI skids. So I felt like giving him shit. This kind of stuff happens. Go talk with RCI before bashing them on this forum.
I mean he already wheeled on them skids before contacting RCI unless he removed them.

Yeah , it seems like Murphy has been giving Kolelt more than his fair share of attention lately .
So I spoke with Josh. And he said those are the correct LCA. he said he can give my money back and let me keep the skid plates. Which I said it's ok, we don't have to do that. And another option is to notch the frame gusset a little. He said he hasn't heard anyone have this issue. But who knows, maybe people simply haven't paid attention to it.
I did feel it hit the frame when pushing the suspension to its limits. I said if you do redesign the LCA. I'd like a free set in which he agreed. So we will see.

I wouldn't say I was bashing them. I was more simply telling buyers to be ware. This is a forum. A social discussion place. So there's nothing wrong with sharing your expierence with a product. They are the correct LCA to begin with. Yes I've installed a lot of products. Many have also... at the end of the day. I'll live.

And that is exactly why I come here to get feedback from members and advice on working on my own Rig so thank you for taking the time to post your experience. Truth is truth..... Good or bad we need to hear about it so we can make informed decisions and not be in the dark. From the sounds of it RCI was willing to make the situation right so again more good information for the would be buyer of there products. Its all good and again thanks koleit for posting this.

Figured I would post up here in case anyone is looking at getting these too let you know that RCI has notched those skids now. I haven't installed them but it looks like it should solve the issue. Need to call them tomorrow and get the install instruction. They don't have online instructions for any of their 3rd gen stuff currently but I took a bunch of pictures when installing the other skids to send their way so they they can build install sheets for us 3rd gen owners. They apparently don't have anyone there anymore who owns a 3rd gen is why.

By chance is there a photo of the new skids? I had mine cut before only to realize that the cut didn't line up and I was so frustrated that I tossed them into the garage and now I can't find them.. lol
