BF Goodrich MT T/A KM??

It is time for me to get some new tires!!

I have been looking, doing my research, and have narrowed it down to about 2...I think. :flipoff: <----Just added that because I thought it was Hilarious when I saw it....

My runner is a daily driver, mostly city. I will be doing offroading, and live in Oregon....so most of the trails I go on will be wet and muddy, even into the spring and early summer.

I want a mud terrain, not only for performance but also for looks.
I'm looking at either, as the title says BFG m/t OR Goodyear mt/r kevlar..
In the infamous 255/75/17

So does anyone have experience with these tires?? Main concern is tread life, I don't want to invest 900+ and end up having to buy new meats in another 25k miles. Road noise is NOT a concern for me with the treads...Any input is great, thanks!

I like your two choices of tires.

Out of the KM and MTR I'd go with the MTR.

Yea I was thinking about going with some 33's as well, but somehow in my mind I'm
thinking that the 1 inch difference with 32's will be much better w/ mpg's:ybrick:

if u go with the bfg mt, maybe check the jeep forums, i hear u can pick up the 255s cheap there when they upgrade. i think blairb did that. imo, dont expect an MT tire to last 50k. i do second the duratrac, tho

Duratracs were actually my first choice....but I'm finding it hard to find them in the 255/70/17 size.
Not to mention it doesn't help when your limited to only one store, americas tire comp.
(only because I was given a 100 gift cert. there, mine as well use it)

How do you guys like them?? Tread wear? How many miles you guys have on them?

why not 265/70

I just got the daystar lift, and my current tires look funny right now.
I'm thinking w/ some 32's it will fill up that wheel well a little bit more
Also I'm thinking of going with a BL down the road and new suspension

how much lift ya got? depending on brand, some 265/70 are 31.9, a 255 is around 32.2 but narrower by about an in. ive got a 2/1 lift & these are 265/70 17. but if u have a 3/2 id go with 285 like the others said, or like u said, 32. but i dont see a tire 1/4-1/2 larger (255) looking that muc.h taller. but if ur thinking BL or other suspension, down the road , imo, after that you'll be at kinda the same point ur at now, needing even larger than 32 in. tires to fill the void. personally, id lift everything to where i wanted first, then get the correct tire size,

Love the tires but there brand new so idk on the treadwear. I have about 400 miles on them and the still look like new

Thanks for all your input guys, and chaz good point! But I also forgot to mention the main reason I'm going with the 255/75/17 size is not only because it's a larger tire, BUT also because it's cheaper than the 265/70/17 size in all the tires I'm looking at. I don't mind a gap in the wheel well, but the 265/65's I have on now just look horrible.

And I figure if the tires look fine once there in, I won't worry about a BL. And hopefully by the time I'm looking at a new suspension, in about 35-45k miles it will be time or even past due for some new tires anyways. (possible 33's in my future?? :thumb3 Can't believe I already outgrew my DS 2.5/1.5 after 3 months, Either way all I see is money just pouring out of my pockets...but I love my 4Runner!

I got less then 5k on them, not sure on the tread wear to early to tell but so far barely any. These are slightly louder on the road noise then my last set of Copper STT's I was running.

I am heading to Moab on Sat so I will post how they did after I get back.

I just got the 2.5/1.5 Daystar lift on my doorstep today. $141 with free shipping on Amazon. Are you kidding me?? Even the dealer said he couldn't get them that cheap.:thumb3:

Techmen - I also have a balck 2005 SR5. I'm rockin the 16 inch wheel and its sitting at 30.6". Its stock... you mentioned it looks kind of funny with the stock wheel. Do you have pictures? I'm getting the lift on Monday and am looking at the Duratrac 265/75/16s (solid 32") but as far as price goes - I'm not sure i want to drop another $900 just after getting it. Does it look that goofy?

Well I think it does look kind of funny.....This is stock. Go w/ 32's!!

Plus I got a little bit higher than 2.5 and 1.5 with the spacers...feels more like a 3/2, but I didn't do measurements

Nice truck man... thanks for the picture. It does look a little higher doesn't it?? Maybe the stock tires are playin tricks to make the wheel well open space seem higher? Dunno. Good choice on the BFG MTs. My buddies love theirs. The stock tires on the lift don't look too bad - its just that we know they could look better. Who knows... maybe getting the lift will kick me in the butt to get my duratracs. Discount Tire quoted me $200 less than anywhere else to get me out the door with them installed. Not bad. But yeah... 32s all the way.
