BFG A/T KO 265 70 R17 definitive size question

For one final time:

The BFG A/T KO 265 70 R17 will fit on a stock 2007 4wd with no issues?

The same tire will fit in the spare location with no issues?

Before spending $1000+ on five new BFGs, I want to make sure there are others with first hand experience running this setup with no issues. Minor rubbing at lock I can deal with.

I got discouraged after my visit to several tire shops telling me about fit issues, abs issues, balancing issues etc. Why do you want this tire? Etc etc.

There are at least 3 here that I recall that did a 100% stock 4th gen with those tires. There was minor rubbing at full lock and a little fenderliner work was necessary as outlined at the bottom of this page.

The spare WILL fit. Several have the 275/70/17 or the 255/75/17 in the spare tire position. Those two tires are bigger/taller than the tires you're looking at.


On the 4Runner ABS doesn't seem to be a problem with larger than OE tires. Balancing... 4Runners, due to rim design, can be tricky to balance. Make sure the shop does lots of Toyota's. Good read here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/perfo...argers-more/173-tire-balancing-must-read.html

Great writeup. Thanks. That fender liner mod looks easy enough. I'm not sure I'd want to trim the fender flares/bumpers for an inch increase in tire size.

Why doesn't BFG make a 265 65 R17? It would make things more simple. I don't want larger tires. Just the BFGs.

Do I need an alignment? Only 17k on the clock after 3years.

My 06 Suburban has the KOs in the D load range, so I'm expecting no harsh ride issues with the C's on the 4Runner.

Do I need an alignment? If it drives right with no pulling and the existing tires are wearing evenly then, no. It never hurts and sometimes treadwear warranty is dependent on having an alignment at install. Only 17k on the clock after 3years.

Thanks again. Very happy with the choice. The ride is nice and quiet. No rubbing after a few test turns, stops and bumps.

They do make this size now. Didn't forever, but recently... I'd say last 6 months came out with the oem size.

Hi, I wonder if the GY Duratrac 265/70R17 will fit a stock '05 T4R SE as well (with the fender liner mod) or is it more likely to rub somewhere because it's a little more squared off profile?
 
PMDATA was that stock then?

Sorry, need to confirm after you put those on your ride you did not have to trim or pull back the liner? i am about to buy some new BFG KO's for my 2007 4wd 4runner on a stock suspension... can i go up one size on the profile and buy the 265/70/17s without having to do any pulling back of the liner or trimming of fenders?

Got'em on my '08 SR5-4WD with the white letters out... oh so clean and oh so filling out my wheel well beautifully. Great ride, no rubbing.
