Just bought my 5th gen yesterday, what is a fair price to sell BRAND NEW factory wheels and tires for the set?
From the newer posts, looks like the $120 off is no longer available. My out the door price for the 275/55/20 was $807.
+ $212 x 4
- $50 instant rebate during the sale
- $70 off for a set of 4 tires
+ $72 for CA sales tax
+ $7 for tire tax (I think this is a recycle fee)
I am thinking I should have gone to the the 17" rim on my limited instead of 20s. Anyone want to pay $800 for a set of 275/55/20 (local PU in the Bay Area)?

FWIW - I looked pretty hard at these - and it's a great price. But... I didn't really want a 10ply E rated tire. Mostly for the big MPG hit. On my 3rd gen I had two sets of rims/tires and the e rated tires cost 2mpg with both being pretty similar all terrain tires. Tread Depot has 285/70/17 P rated at3's for basically the same OTD price. $630ish. I haven't ever been a big cooper tire fan and would take KO2s over the AT3s, except for the e-rating issue. I wish BFG would get back into making some c rated or p rated all terrains.
I'm in the same boat you're in. Very tempted by this deal, but really not interested in driving an E-rated tire. I wish I could find a decent 275/70/17 C rated tire other than the AT3's. Same token, I'm a bit hesitant to go with a 285 P rated tire for fear of poor cornering and road handling. I think I've exploited all my options and I have to go one way or another...unless BFG makes a C rated tire in the near future.
I just went from the stock tires, to 275 ko2s. A week later I put on sliders. My MPG has dropped less than 1mpg total. Went from the low 19s to the high 18s.
Not too big if you ask me.
Depending on how aggressive of an AT tire, and at risk of being flamed for mentioning it, Firestone (Bridgestone owned) Destination AT's come in 275/70/17 Load Range C. I've done a lot of research and they seem to get very positive reviews, and the same can be seen on Tire Rack. I saw a set of 265's on a new Trail a few weeks ago and they actually looked decent and a little more aggressive on the wheel than in pictures. I'm not typically a Firestone/Bridgestone fan having owned many sets of BFG's and Michelins, but the reviews and pricing are compelling on the Destination AT's.I spend 90% of my time on road so decent manners on pavement matter to me. I've researched to the point where I'm tired of thinking about tires. Nearly pulled the trigger on KO2's in 265 but really wanted to go up a size. I had E BFG's on a half ton pickup years ago and they rode like crap compared to P or C's, so I'm a bit reluctant to go that route on my 4Runner.
From what I read, the Decatur, IL plant that was turning out the lions share of defective Firestone tires years ago was closed after they were bought by Bridgestone. I too wish there were more LR C options in a 275, and am not sold on Cooper yet. Seem to be hit and miss based on the reviews I've been reading.

I worked at a tire shop for a few years in college. This was 10 years ago, so things may have changed... but there was a night and big difference in quality between cooper and michelin/BFG on the inside. It is obvious with two side by side off the wheel why bfg tires cost more.
That said - I ran coopers and pro-comp (cooper made tires) because they were cheap. Like $100 per tire at shop price for 35's. Hard to go wrong at that price.
I'm partial to goodyear as well but there's not much available by goodyear in a more street oriented tread in this size.

Was this with stock wheels? Wondering with the TRD Pro wheels if you would get the same rubbing since their offset is about 3/4" wider.
